Millions of homes, schools and enterprises in the developing world still utilise kerosene as their primary source of lighting. Kerosene lamps emit poisonous fumes, create fire hazards and provide inadequate lighting, resulting in health problems and poor living conditions within those communities.

This exhibition was commissioned by the EU's Climate-KIC and MeshPower, a London based start-up who provide micro-grid energy solutions to off-grid communities. They operate in India and in the heart of Africa, Rwanda and are based at Imperial College London. I spent two weeks with the company travelling to document the rural communities they operate in.

The public exhibition was held in southbank, a prime location central London and was aimed at to raise awareness of the EU’s main climate innovation initiative which focuses on mitigating and adapting to climate change.
